Renovation of 4th Floor Studio Room (Room 405) at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies
Issues/Challenges of Studio Room 405:
Low Utilization: The studio space is underutilized, with only an average of 4-5 students using the desks each semester.
Lack of Medium-Sized Classrooms: There is a shortage of medium-sized classrooms suitable for the Department of Architecture.
Preference for 5th Floor Desks: Second and third-semester students prefer using their individual desks on the 5th floor.
Large Space Management: The large size of the space makes it challenging to use effectively.
Lighting Issues: The room is poorly lit, necessitating the replacement of fluorescent lights.
Temperature Control: The large space makes temperature regulation difficult, resulting in low energy efficiency when using air conditioning or heating.
Improvement Plan for Studio Room 405 (Phase 1):
Space Division: Enhance space utilization by dividing the current large area into a medium-sized classroom and a studio desk area.
Studio Lectures and Presentations: Arrange existing large desks in the medium-sized space to facilitate studio lectures, presentations, and master's thesis defenses.
Maintain Emergency Staircase: The emergency staircase space will be preserved.
Desk Utilization for First-Semester Students: Encourage first-semester students to use the remaining desks in the studio desk area if needed.
Future Improvements (Phase 2):
Lighting, Flooring, and Insulation Upgrades: Maintain a bright and comfortable environment in the smaller space by improving lighting, flooring, and insulation systems.
Furniture Replacement: Replace furniture to further enhance the functionality and comfort of the space.
